Projects

EntranceCan we think of an idea like that as a small association? After all we have to take care of 100 children in the future, give them accommodation, food, medical attendance and a school- and job education. Keep in mind the costs for the construction of 10 Children’s Houses and other buildings! For that matter it is important to provide a long-term support through donations from Germany and Europe – with sponsorships for our project.

The preparations for our big aim have emerged: In September 1997 we bought a property of 15.000 sqm. It is located on the outskirts of Pokhara at the spur of the Himalaya. Since 1998 a nearby spring provides the village with fresh water. In 2000 the first three buildings were completed with a solar kitchen and a compost toilette.

In July 2001 we moved to the Children’s Village – we’ve been looking forward to this for a long time. Two further houses were built in that same year and are used as health post with an office and as workshop with a small shop. As well a guest house is planned. In cooperation with the German Government (BMZ – Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development) we built a school close to the Children’s Village for at least 600 pupils.

For us it is important that the children grow up in their own cultural environment. Our village is a realistic, Nepalese village surrounded by small fields, animals and enough space for the children to play. Furthermore our children should get in contact with children and people outside the village. As you can see there is still a lot to be done!
